With growing support from DG Shipping and the Government of India, the maritime industry is opening stronger career opportunities for women through scholarships, equal pay policies, safer workplaces, leadership initiatives, and welfare-focused reforms.

Today, women are successfully building global careers as Deck Officers, Marine Engineers, ETOs, and maritime professionals onboard international vessels.

Eligible women seafarers can now benefit from initiatives like the ₹ 1,00,000 MTT Scholarship, age relaxation for selected pre-sea courses, anti-harassment frameworks, maternity welfare support, and the “Sagar Mein Samman” initiative promoting inclusion and dignity at sea.

At HIMT College, aspiring female cadets are further supported with scholarships up to ₹ 1,00,000, secure accommodation, wellness support, extracurricular opportunities, and industry-focused maritime training.
